Cabinet painting: a new kitchen without the demo
Painting the cabinets you already have costs a fraction of replacing them and takes days instead of weeks. The difference between a cabinet job that lasts and one that chips by spring is the prep, and Diego does all of it.
How it's done
Doors and drawers come off. Every piece is labeled so it goes back where it came from. Hardware is bagged.
Degrease and sand. Kitchen cabinets carry years of cooking film. It all comes off before anything goes on.
Bonding primer. The coat that makes the finish stick to factory finishes, laminate, and previously painted wood.
High-quality cabinet enamel. Doors and drawer fronts are sprayed for a smooth, factory-style finish. The boxes are brushed and rolled in place, which keeps overspray out of your kitchen.
Reassemble and adjust. Doors rehung, hinges adjusted, new hardware installed if you have bought it.
What can be painted
Solid wood, wood veneer, MDF, and previously painted cabinets all take paint well. Most Denver kitchens fall here, and they are the ones that come out looking factory-finished.
Wood and MDF
Some can be done with the right bonding primer, some cannot. Diego will tell you on the walk-through whether yours are a good candidate, before you spend a dollar.
Thermofoil and laminate
Bathroom vanities, built-in shelving, and pantry doors get the same process as the kitchen: off, degreased, sanded, primed, enameled, rehung.

Good to know
Boxes are painted in place over a day or two. Doors are finished off-site or in a staged area and rehung when cured. Plan on a few days without doors and a working kitchen throughout.
How long is my kitchen out of commission?
1
With proper prep and a hard cabinet enamel, years. Wipe with a damp cloth, no abrasive pads.
How long does it last?
2
Yes. Dark to white is the most common request and the one that changes the room most.
Can I change the color completely?
3
What about the inside of the cabinets?
4
Usually left as is unless you ask. It adds time, and most people never see it.
